Major General Farouk Umar Mijinyawa Officially Takes Command of 81 Division Nigerian Army In Lagos


Major General Farouk Umar Mijinyawa has officially assumed command as the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 81 Division Nigerian Army. The handover ceremony took place at the Division Headquarters in Victoria Island, Lagos.

In a farewell address at the 65 Battalion Parade Ground, Bonny Military Cantonment, the outgoing GOC, Major General Muhammed Usman, commended the troops for their discipline and unwavering support during his tenure. He encouraged the officers and soldiers to continue their loyalty to constituted authority.

Major General Usman, who has been reassigned to the Army Headquarters Department of Army Transformation and Innovation (AHQ DATI) as the Director of Research and Development, urged the troops to intensify their efforts in safeguarding the lives and property of Nigerians within the Division’s Area of Responsibility (AOR). He expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, for the opportunity to serve and for supporting the Division’s initiatives to combat insecurity and criminal activities.

In his inaugural address, Major General Mijinyawa praised his predecessor’s leadership and dedication. He expressed his commitment to building on the achievements of General Usman to ensure the continued protection of lives and property in Lagos and Ogun states. He emphasized the importance of maintaining collaboration with other security services and agencies in line with the COAS’s command philosophy to enhance national security.

Major General Mijinyawa thanked the COAS for the trust placed in him and pledged his total dedication to his new role. He wished General Usman success in his new appointment and urged the officers and soldiers to remain steadfast in their duties.

The ceremony underscored the Nigerian Army’s ongoing commitment to leadership continuity and operational effectiveness within the 81 Division.
