The Chief of Military Intelligence CMI (Army), Maj Gen TB Ugiagbe, has commended the Commandant of the Nigerian Army Intelligence School (NAIS), Brig Gen KN Nwoko, for the remarkable achievements in academic and infrastructural development at the School. Speaking on 25 Jan 25 during the West African Social Activities (WASA) celebration at Tego Barracks, Apapa, Lagos, the CMI (A), represented by the Commander 81 Military Intelligence Brigade, Brig Gen HG Hassan, acknowledged the transformation of NAIS into a first-class citadel of learning under the current leadership.
The CMI (A) noted that NAIS successfully met all Army Headquarters (AHQ) training directives for the Year 2024. He highlighted the Commandant’s accomplishments in reviewing the school curriculum, upgrading infrastructure, enhancing training aids, and focusing on hands-on technical intelligence training. Other noteworthy initiatives include the introduction of driving lessons, tours to security agencies, emphasis on night lectures/training, and the procurement of modern equipment. The CMI (A) also appreciated the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen OO Oluyede for his unwavering support to NAIS and NAIC at large.
Earlier, the Commandant, Brig Gen KN Nwoko, in his welcome address, expressed gratitude to the Special Guest of Honour (SGOH), senior officers, retired personnel, and other distinguished guests for attending the event. He emphasized the significance of WASA as a platform for fostering socialization, harmony and camaraderie among officers, soldiers, and their families.
The Commandant provided an overview of the school’s achievements during the 2024 training year. These included progress in the planned relocation of NAIS from Tego Barracks, Apapa, to Muhammadu Buhari Cantonment, Giri, upgrading of the computer and technical laboratories, installation of solar inverters; enhancement of language training, procurement of modern training equipment, introduction of Artificial Intelligence training and successful training tours to strategic security agencies. Other milestones were the improvements in sporting activities, use of electronic smart boards in all classrooms, enhanced telephone battle exercises, psychological operations, intelligence analysis, Intelligence Preparation of the Battlefield and provision of free internet for staff and students. The Commandant also highlighted efforts to improve staff welfare, which aligns with the COAS’s command philosophy. He thereafter thanked the COAS, Lt Gen OO Oluyede for his continuous support and leadership. He also thanked the CMI(A) for his unwavering support and guidance to NAIS.
The event was graced by representatives of the General Officer Commanding 81 Division, Commandant Nigeria Army School of Finance and Administration, Nigerian Army School of Signals, Commander Command Finance Office, and other senior military officers, heads of sister security agencies, traditional rulers, and friends and families of NAIS.
Highlights of the occasion included cultural displays, comedy performances, tug-of-war competitions, rifle stripping and assembly contests, awards to deserving soldiers and presentation of gifts to the SGOH and other dignitaries. The evening culminated with the beating of the retreat and a bonfire ceremony.
